"I didn't realise how absent I'd become until he named it in the second session. That was the moment everything started to shift."

90-day programme client

I'm a Sober man with Desi roots. Alcohol cost me years I'll never get back and nearly destroyed my sense of who I was. Sobriety gave all of that back. That's why I coach.

My Story

I had everything. I just wasn't really there.

My name is Sonny Chohan. I had a senior role in education, my career was on track and my family was at home. From the outside, everything looked exactly as it should.

But the reality was something else entirely.

I was home every evening, but being home and being present are two very different things. I was drinking most nights, distant, not really there for the people who needed me. My boys needed their dad, and they were getting a version of me I'm not proud of.

If any of that resonates, let's have an honest conversation.

Free. Private. No pressure. Just two people talking.

Completely alcohol-free Not cutting back. Not moderated drinking. Done. The clarity that followed changed everything.
The Work

You carry three versions of yourself every single day.

The professional. The desi son. The husband and dad. Nobody ever asks which one is actually you. This programme is built for the man underneath all three.

Whether you're here about alcohol or about finding your direction again, the foundation is the same: understanding what's been driving your behaviour and changing it from the inside out.

My psychology background shapes everything I do. I use CBT and evidence-based methods to identify the thought patterns that have been quietly driving your behaviour. Patterns most people have never had the chance to look at.

The Sober Desi Pathway

Stop Drinking.
Start Leading.

90-day 1:1 coaching for South Asian men, coached by someone who has lived the career, the culture, and the cost.

Most coaches will tell you to stop drinking. I'm one of the few who actually understands why you started. I've been in the high-pressure career. I've felt the weight of providing for a family while quietly losing myself. I know the culture, the events, the expectations, the izzat, and exactly why refusing a drink in those rooms feels impossible. This is a private, structured 90-day journey built by someone who has lived every part of it.

  • 12 weekly 1:1 coaching sessions
  • Daily WhatsApp support throughout your coaching journey
  • Personalised habit trackers, worksheets and tools
  • Mid-programme Walkshop: outdoor reflection and reset session
  • Full STRIVE framework: six cultural pillars of transformation
  • Ongoing summary and action notes after every session

What Changes

Real results. In every area of your life.

Family & Relationships

Real presence with your partner and children. Conversations that were closed begin to open. Trust that was lost starts to rebuild one day at a time.

Performance at Work

Sharper thinking. Clearer decisions. The mental fog lifts. You stop running on adrenaline and stress, and start operating with genuine clarity and energy.

Health & Energy

Better sleep. Real mornings. A body that recovers instead of just surviving. The physical reset that comes with sobriety surprises almost every client.

Identity & Purpose

You rediscover what you actually want, not the version shaped by expectation or performance. A renewed sense of who you are and where you're heading.

Confidence & Self-Worth

Not the performed confidence, the real kind. The kind that doesn't need a drink, doesn't need validation, and doesn't waver when the room gets quiet.

Legacy & Pride

The version of yourself your children will remember. The father, partner, and man who chose to rise, and who made the change while there was still time to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions you might be sitting with.

Is this confidential? Will anyone find out? +
Everything you share stays entirely between us. Nothing we discuss appears on any medical record or is passed to anyone else. I understand how much is at stake, professionally, personally, within the family. This is built to be completely private. You will never have to explain yourself to anyone.
Do I have to have already stopped drinking before I work with you? +
No. Most of the men I work with haven't stopped at the point they reach out, and that's completely fine. You don't need to have had your last drink before we speak. Just come with an honest picture of where you are and we'll go from there.
Is this like AA or rehab? +
No. This is private 1:1 coaching: no groups, no steps, no labels. That said, I have a great deal of respect for anyone who has been through rehab, and I work closely with the team at ukdetox.co.uk as one of their aftercare coaches. Some of the men I support come to me directly after completing a medical detox, and this structured follow-up is often exactly what makes the difference. If you've tried AA or rehab before and it didn't hold, that doesn't mean you've failed. It means you haven't yet found the right support for who you are.
Do I have to admit I'm an alcoholic? +
No. And honestly, that label was one of the reasons AA never felt right to me either. I never identified as an alcoholic. What I understood was that alcohol was stopping me from reaching my potential. That's the frame I work within. When alcohol left my life, I stopped thinking about it altogether. That's the goal. Not a label, not a lifelong identity. Just clarity and freedom.
I'm a high-functioning professional. My drinking isn't that bad. Is this really for me? +
I said exactly the same thing. I had a successful career, I was performing, delivering, holding everything together. On the surface, everything looked fine. But alcohol was quietly holding me back from the level I knew I was capable of, at work, at home, and as a man. The men I work with are not falling apart. They are high-functioning, driven, and quietly aware that there is a better version of themselves just out of reach. If that resonates, this is for you.
What actually happens in the 90 days? +
We work across six areas: mindset, identity, how you handle pressure, your relationships, physical health, and the cultural context that most coaches simply don't understand. A big part of the work is also unpicking self-sabotage and distorted thinking, the patterns that have kept you stuck and the stories you've been telling yourself about why change isn't possible. Every session is tailored to you, not a template. You'll have regular sessions with ongoing support between them, and most men finish not just sober but with a far clearer sense of who they are and what they're building. The starting point is the free Rise In 45 call, where we talk through your situation and whether this is the right fit.
Do you actually understand the cultural pressures South Asian men face? +
Yes, because I've lived them. The izzat, the weddings, the staff nights out, the end of term drinks, the weight of being the one who holds everything together. I know what it feels like to navigate a room full of people who expect you to drink and to do it quietly, without drawing attention. I know the particular loneliness of carrying something in a community that doesn't really have the language for it. This isn't theoretical. I've been there.
How is this different from therapy? +
I'm not a therapist and I don't position myself as one. What I bring is that I've walked this road myself, I understand the cultural context from the inside, and I have a background in psychology and education that allows me to structure a practical, purposeful journey. Therapy tends to focus on exploring the past. Coaching focuses on building what comes next. Many of the men I speak with have already tried therapy. It helped in some ways, but it didn't address their relationship with alcohol directly, and it didn't speak to them as South Asian men. That's exactly where I work.
